As Lionel Chetwynd, the co-founder of both Horowitz's Wednesday Morning Club and the Hollywood Republican fellowship group, Friends of Abe, put it 2005, "This is the cult of victimization, which says, 'The left has ganged up on us in the media, so we're going to fight back" [1]
The 'cult of victimization'—this cluster of Republicanism—felt it was in a fight for their lives against the weaponization of left-wing ideology. But the thought leaders, organizers, and activists, in that fight were pushing on in years by the early 2000s.
New young blood was needed.

Horowitz saw teenage Stephen Miller demonstrating an alignment in thought and a natural talent for combative provocation. Is it any wonder that he decided to take Miller under his wing, support his education and his career, and cultivate him as protégé and a successor to his mission?
While it took twenty years to yield Horowitz's sought-after outcomes in Miller, Miller did succeed. He is now the tie that binds together Horowitz's network of "like-minded charities linked together by ideology, personalities, conservative funders and websites, including the for-profit Breitbart News." [2]
Horowitz took Miller's passion, talent, and vulnerability, and exploited them, initially, to recruit young minds. Miller as a teenager quickly became a young face of old ideas implemented in new ways; a badge of legitimacy through which Horowitz could identify other fresh talent.
